GCB stands for "Grower's Choice Box" so let our craft growers pick the best greens of the week for you! The indoor greens at our farms are cultivated on a weekly growing cycle. So we always hand pick and select the best ones that are ready to be harvested and packed into your box.
2. What's included in each box?
It's completely up to you! We provide two parts: The "Raw Goodness" which is our locally grown organic hydroponic gourmet lettuce varieties (up to 10 different strains!) and the "Add-ons" which are ready to heat/eat items made from scratch with all local ingredients at our fully licensed "Grower's kitchen.
3.Is there a "contract" for ordering the box?
There is no commitment when ordering GCB. You can go week by week, just making sure you place the online order and complete the payment by Monday 6pm CST for the same week pick up. Or subscribe to a 1-month subscription for convenience.
4. I don't see a payment method when ordering online. How do I pay?
The payment is processed through a separate third party company called Quickbooks. Once you submit the online order, an e-invoice (email) will be sent to you from Quickbooks You can pay electronically with credit card or bank transfer.
5. I am on a special diet, how do I decide if any of the add-on items fit into my diet?
On the online order form, we provide a complete list of the ingredients goes into the finished item so you know which one(s) would be your type of food. The same information is also detailed on the labels on each product including common allergens.
6.How long will my ingredients stay fresh?
Remember "real foods go bad." Because our greens are all naturally grown with no chemicals so they are perishable and need to be enjoyed timely. Keep them in fridge for up to 2 weeks at the most.
7. Do I need to wash the greens?
You don't have to wash the greens because their life cycle is spent in a lab-like state of art indoor growing environment which is free from contaminations and food-born pathogens. However we think it's a pretty good idea to give them a quick cold-water bath before serving to replenish the crispy texture. The micro greens do not need to be rinsed or washed due to their tiny profile.
8. Why are our greens are better than main stream brands' on the store shelves?
Because we are hyper-local and the way we grow our food is the safest, sustainable and advanced. The long-distance trucked in produce are covered with pesticides. Excessive chemicals are also used to keep them look fresh to sustain the long time traveling. Most of them are still grown the outdoor traditional ways which means a higher risk of contamination with pathogens. Our greens are not only hyper-local, they are also 100% indoor hydroponically (soilless) grown under LED lights 365 days a year in a lab-like state of art indoor facility. So they grew up to be happy greens with the highest nutrient content. We always "same-day harvest and delivery" our greens to the local stores. We NEVER use any chemical pesticides or herbicides and NEVER "triple wash" the greens in chlorine solutions to preserve them. Remember, real food go bad! Because they are fresh and authentically natural from seed to shelf. Chemical covered food stay "fresh" for weeks or more. But at our urban farm, only hyper-local, directly sourced fresh ingredients. Texture, flavor, nutrition and real health benefits, that's it and that's all.
